Hana was a Peace Corps Ukraine volunteer and worked as a Youth Development Specialist and PEPFAR Response volunteer for 4 years. Hana is originally from Ethiopia and grew up witnessing the mistreatment, gender inequality, and the constant sexual harassment faced by young girls and women first-hand. Given her experience, she decided to join the helping profession and earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Clinical Social Work with a minor in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Hana has a strong passion for social justice and advocating for vulnerable individuals and communities affected by sexual violence.  She believes in empowering all people, especially young girls and she is determined to build a safer and better world that is free of discrimination and violence.
